Anne Karhio

Anne Karhio is a postdoctoral researcher specialising in contemporary Irish
poetry, place and landscape, and digital literature and culture. Her most recent
research project Virtual Landscapes: New Media Technologies and the Poetics of
Place in Recent Irish Poetry (carried out at the University of Bergen, Norway, and
the National University of Ireland, Galway) was awarded Irish Research Council’s
international ELEVATE fellowship. She is the author of ‘Slight Return’: Paul
Muldoon’s Poetics of Place (Peter Lang, 2016) and a co-editor of Crisis and
Contemporary Poetry (Palgrave MacMillan, 2011), and has published a number of
essays and journal articles on contemporary Irish poetry, place and landscape,
Finnish culture in Irish writing, and digital literature and aesthetics. She is also
the secretary of the Nordic Irish Studies Network.
