
Chitra Jayathilake
Chitra Jayathilake is Senior Lecturer of English in the Department of English and a Faculty Member of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. Chitra, a bilingual in Sinhala and English, holds a PhD in English from the University of Keele, United Kingdom, an MA in TESL from the Postgraduate Institute of English of the Open University of Sri Lanka, an MA in Linguistics from the University of Kelaniya, and a BA (Hons) in English from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. Her research interests lie at the intersection of postcolonial literatures, especially postcolonial theatre, English and cultural studies, Psycholinguistics, Second Language Acquisition and Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL). She has been teaching English Literature and Language for undergraduates for 17 years, and postgraduate candidates for 3 years. She is a member of Postcolonial Studies Association and the International Association for the Study of Irish Literatures.
