Sharmita Lahiri

Dr. Sharmita Lahiri is an Assistant Professor of English at IIT Gandhinagar.

She received her Ph.D. in English from the University of Houston, USA, and double MA degrees in English literature from the University of Houston and the University of Calcutta. She has been a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Houston Writing Center, specializing in writing pedagogy and Writing-in the Disciplines.

Dr. Lahiri has been the recipient of the University of Houston’s highest dissertation fellowship - the C.W. Moores Dissertation Fellowship, University of Houston Women’s Association’s Ella Margaret Hawes Scholarship, Modern Language Association’s Travel Grant, and IIT Gandhinagar’s first Teaching Excellence Award.

Her areas of interest are Indian Writing in English, Bengali literature, Postcolonial literature, Women’s writing, and Feminist studies. She teaches courses on Literature, Language, and Communication. Her research work has been published in international and national journals.
